Very interesting reading! Well, at least I find it interesting.
I'm so glad my mobile phone is basically just that - a phone - that I occasionally also use to do a google search, check email and some times take a photo. I am not into any social media - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc etc etc.
Growing up well before the Internet was even invented I now see as a huge benefit for me.
The first link is the history behind the author's project described in this thread's title. The second link is an update on the project's progress/findings so far.

Growing up well before the Internet was even invented I now see as a huge benefit for me.
I remember in my very early years my father often didn't answer our telephone and when asked by me why ... " I pay for this service to be a convenience to ME!"
Often folks now suggest to me that I should use Siri ... if I know the person I explain that Siri (or Alexa or Cortana) has to be listening all the time for the service to be effective and I don't care for the intrusion. I don't enable these services, not because I don't trust the big companies, but rather I don't trust the service at all - anyone with the knowledge, technology, and will can listen remotely.
I turn my computer and iPhone off every night!
