I have 3 printers and initially Elements 15 would only print to printer No. 1 which was very annoying. Even if I switched off the power to that printer it would just give me the message that the printer was offline and still not use the printer I select in the print dialogue box. I uninstalled and reinstalled all 3 printers I have and now it prints to printer No. 2 instead BUT ONLY printer NO. 2. I never had this problem on my previous laptop, I could choose any of the 3 and it would print to them as I chose. Im still using windows 10, its just a new laptop. I cannot specify and 'default' printer on this laptop, Windows states that it uses the last used printer as the default. Even If I have used Printer No 1 as the last printer, (from other software) from Elements it will only print to Printer No. 2 despite the fact that all 3 are there in black (not greyed) to choose from. It seems to jump back to Printer No 2 each time
Any ideas anyone please. This is so annoying.

Which operating system was on your previous laptop that did not have the problem ?
Were you also using Elements 15 on that laptop ?
Although I would never claim to be anything more than a novice, I have sort of become the computer fixer guy for all of my many many relatives and very few friends and all of their friends and acquaintances. That being said, my two most requested tasks that I perform are bypassing forgotten passwords (this is ridiculous easy) and replacing Windows 10 with Windows 7.
If your previous machine did not have Windows 10 and worked fine with Elements 15 and printing, then you most likely have a Windows 10 issue.
Oh..., and welcome to the group.

My previous laptop was also windows 10 and elements 15
I don't really want to set a default printer as I have different media loaded into each printer. I want to be able to choose which printer each time. This is the setup I had before and its what I need now

I've no clues. And this does not work? (Screen snip from PSE 2018). Someone here should know. Clive

Installed a new printer and couldn't get it to properly align the print when I tried to print from within PSE - even though my design was aligned. Finally, saved as a jpg and printed from Preview - problem solved. I remember my last HP had that same issue with PSE. Heck - I always have a problem printing from PSE. I just forgot I used to have this problem. I haven't been printing stuff where design matters.

Hi julie1962 My previous laptop was also windows 10 and elements 15 I don't really want to set a default printer as I have different media loaded into each printer. I want to be able to choose which printer each time. This is the setup I had before and its what I need now This doesn't makes sense to me. This implies that setting a default printer doesn't then let you choose a printer in an application's dialogue box. If that is your experience then it is definitely an OS issue. I also have 3 printers - 2 ink jets and 1 laser printer. I have the laser printer set as default in Windows and no matter which application I print from (PSE, Word, Adobe PDF Reader etc) I am always able to select a printer from the application's print dialogue box. So when everything is working properly in Windows, setting a default printer will not cause any printer selection issues in an application. If you haven't already done so, maybe try this: 1. Navigate to Windows Start menu. 2. Click "Settings" 3. Click "Devices" in the Settings dialog. 4. Make sure you are in the section "Printers & scanners" 5. Disable the setting "Let Windows manage my default printer" by setting it to "Off".6. Click the Print&Share printer 'Print+Share' and select "Set as default"

It seems to jump back to Printer No 2 each time Hi julie1962, welcome to PSE&M! Glad to have you here. Would you please give us some more details? To help with the troubleshooting? Thanks!
- Are you printing from the Editor or from the Organizer? - Do you have this problem when printing from outside Elements? - Any error message pops up?
Without knowing all the details, I am going out on a limb here.
I have seen some recommendations on the Adobe forums to rename the printer which is causing Elements to be confused. It worked for me when I had a similar problem. See if it will work for you too.

Step 5 in my previous posts shows how to disable Windows managing your default printer. Some more info that might help: Turn Off Let Windows manage my default printer setting in Windows 10

Rename Printer in Windows 10
this had no effect. I changed the name completely and made it the default. It still only prints to Printer 2

I am then able to change the media, print settings etc. All looks well till I hit print then it jumps back to Printer 2. Meanwhile Printer 1 and 3 are working fine from other applications.

Sepiana - I can print perfectly to any printer from outside of Elements. I'm printing from the Editor not organiser.
Anyone else? This has me baffled. I'm not a novice user.

Julie, thanks for posting back! I was hoping renaming the printer would do the trick (as it did for me).

If this is the case, then, I would suggest gearing the troubleshooting towards Elements as the possible culprit. Please check this thread on the Adobe Photoshop Elements forum. The problem reported is somewhat similar to yours. Deleting the Preferences file did the trick.
Print command goes to wrong printer
NOTE:
If you prefer, you can delete the Preferences file by following this route. Go to Edit>Preferences>General. Click on the "Reset Preferences on next launch" button. Ignore the "This cannot be undone." warning and click OK. Close Elements and then start it again.
Elements has two separate Preferences file, one for the Organizer and one for the Editor. This procedure will affect only the Editor's Preferences file.
