Was funny. The sun looked like it could come out and shine on the frost, so I was all ready. Then I spoke to our neighbours and they were going to get their daughter to take their photo with the frost, so I volunteered. Sun never came out til after we took their pix. I hardened the pano with the clarity slider and upped the contrast etc. The sky in back was darkish again. I might re-do this scene with less contrast and harshness. Diane and Mike...we took about 20 pix and will print some of the tighter portraits.

Frost 2.0 Which do you prefer? The hard one or this one? Thanks Clive

The hard one or the soft one? That's a hard choice, Clive. Each one tells a different story. The hard one certainly illustrates the harshness and bitterness of the wintery landscape. In the soft one, the colors are more pleasing to me and even though it's bitter cold, there is a serenity about it. I think I prefer the soft one. Good job!

Thanks kdcintx. Yes, I agree...softer is better. There is a better separation between the frosty shrubs and dark clouds in the "hard' version, but there is decent separation in the softer one as well. Thanks Clive

The North Yorkshire moors are my most favourite place, they are bleak, barren, and harsh. Therefore, it is picture 1. for me.
I bet Diane and Mike were delighted with their photo.

Thanks Margaret. "Hard" pictures sure have a place and you are correct...if going for the harshness, then a hard photo is the way to go. Just gave some "proofs" to Diane..they were away..and she was pleased. The prints turned out well. HNY Clive

What beautiful landscapes you share, Clive! I prefer the soft one as well and the picture of your friends came out great!

I prefer the harsher one because, like whippet, I am an ex Yorkshire lass and the bleak North Yorkshire moors was also a special place for me .......almost makes me homesick!
