Can you see the red numbers/letters in my post? It happens after I edit and save it. That's happened a couple of times before and I don't know how to fix it other than to start from scratch.

Yes, Janice I can see them, but hadn't noticed them until you asked the question!

Janice, I can see them. I checked using four browsers -- Chrome, Edge, IE 11 and Safari (iPhone).

Thanks Major - but I am curious as to why it happened. How did the code get there? It's not the first time it's happened or I wouldn't be concerned.
It has to be on my end or else others would be experiencing the same thing. Good thing I'm replacing my computer soon. My computer is getting cranky and I'm getting annoyed. Can't wait to start fresh again.

You're very welcome.
I have no idea how this stuff happens. I call it cybergremlins.

I fixed it. Some weird code crept into the post somehow. Sometimes I see something unusual in my posts after saving as well. For anyone familiar with bbcode you can simply go into bbcode mode in the post editor and edit out the extra weird code yourself.

The main times I see something weird in posts is when I upload an image via imgbb, although it's rare.
For some unknown reasons extra html code displaying a column of random keyboard characters is added after the image's html code. Using bbcode mode of the post editor allows you to easily remove the extra html code.

Thanks for the hint on how to fix this without deleting and starting over.

Thanks for the hint on how to fix this without deleting and starting over. No problem. If it or something similar happens again and you are not sure how to remove the extra code, open your post in bbcode mode and post a screenshot of it. I will be happy to show you how to clean up the code.

...
I have no idea how this stuff happens. I call it cybergremlins.
When a user clicks the "Save" or similar button, the BBCODE "engine" first parses the content of the post and validates the contents. The engine strips out any invalid code like invalid bbcode/html elements, javascript that someone might try to insert etc.
It converts valid bbcode to valid html for the contents of the post to be sent back to the user's browser. When "unsolicited extra" code is inserted into a post it could come from bugs/glitches in the bbcode engine, add-ons or other modifications that the website host has implemented in the background or some other unknown sources.
The Proboards Support Forum might be able to provide you and the other admins further information/help if the issue becomes more prevalent.

Janice,
Craig fixed it before; he can do it again. Hopefully he will come online shortly.
