Had a play with a new kit I got – Delicate by Tiramisu Designs. Image used from Pixabay.

Like the diagonal layout plus the splash (?) that adds a sense of movement to an otherwise stationary placement....if that makes any sense! The rich purple tones work well with the portrait.

I also like the purple tones and "the splash". They blend together really well.
I just wonder if maybe a more earthy coloured tone instead of purple would blend better with the skin tones of the subject. Maybe it's just the way my eyes and brain work.

Thank you for your comments Bailey. I'm always open to CC as you know... what do you think of this version - is it earthy enough...

Hi Billiejean,
Yes, both are very nice but I like version 2 better.
For me, the earthy colour tone helps the flowers, frame and lady stand out more with more depth and punch in the image now.
If I saw both versions in a shop and could only pick one to purchase, it would be v2.
Now I'm being a bit picky, but the only other thing I would tinker with is the colour of the lipstick to see if that could enhance the image even further.
(btw and fwiw.....tiramisu is my favourite cake )

Maybe it's a guy thing....I still prefer the purple but I asked my husband and he likes the brown

I'm rushing off to a funeral just now but I will give my thoughts later today...

It may be my imagination, but do the details stand out more on the grey? They are both beautiful, and it is difficult to choose. But, like Helen, it must be the purple for me (Only because I love purple).

I think both are good, but for me evoke quite different responses. Purple -- an intriguing young woman. What kind of life does she lead? Brown -- In Memoriam for a young life tragically lost, because of the funerary-looking flowers.

Thank you everyone for your comments I do appreciate them. For me, the earthy colour tone helps the flowers, frame and lady stand out more with more depth and punch in the image now. It’s funny how differently we all view things. For me the frame and lady actually stands out and has more punch in my first version. Whilst I like the second version I feel she tends to be a bit overpowered by the darker brown tones. I did try lighter browns but oh gosh I didn’t like them at all. I take your point about the lipstick Bailey – I asked my husband his preference - he said his choice would be the purple one but he thought the other version was more artsy!!!

Hi Billiejean,
I think people viewing things differently is quite normal, especially since it is unlikely the tones and shades people see on their screens will be exactly the same as you see on yours given the variability in screen settings and calibrations.
I see whippet sees grey tones. I see no significant greys at all.
As I posted earlier, both versions are very nice.

I have gone back and forth perusing the two of them and prefer the purple one. It seems to match her lipstick as well.

Purple for me. Love the rich colors against her skin tone and lipstick. In the tan version, ...to me....the background washes out her skin and as Bailey said, the lipstick draws the eye right away. It's a lovely image though!

I have a daylight bulb in my lamp. It seems to be that which is making parts of the image show up as a gunmetal shade of grey.

No problem whippet.
The type and temperature of light falling on a screen is just another variable in addition to screen settings and calibration that affect how we see colours on the screen.
