On1 Photo Raw 2019.2 has definitely upped the game on photo work with this version. I personally have moved from Lightroom to using this program exclusively. A friend has even moved from Lightroom/Photoshop due to the many features that can be found all in one program - and all non-destructive.

My goal a number of years past was to move to a single stop shop for PP - the offerings from On1 were to be my solution. Experience with the latest eclipse images has changed my mind as ACR produced superior results initially developing my raw images. I've since changed my goal and will maintain PSE along with On1.

My goal a number of years past was to move to a single stop shop for PP - the offerings from On1 were to be my solution. Experience with the latest eclipse images has changed my mind as ACR produced superior results initially developing my raw images. I've since changed my goal and will maintain PSE along with On1. Hi Peter, A single application for post processing is also my preferred option. I downloaded Photo RAW 2019 for a trial when it was first released last year. Although it has features that would be handy, but definitely are not must-haves, I decided to not purchase it. The main deal breaker for me was that ON1's Photo Raw does not allow me to use a custom screen profile for colour management. PSE does. The second deal breaker was that Photo RAW doesn't support custom scripting. PSE with Elements+ does. Writing my own scripts gives me much more power and flexibility than Actions, which can be recorded in PS but not PSE. Actions can be run in PSE though. I also found that adjustments in ACR generally had a larger range and affect on images than the On1's RAW editor. For example, for a given image if I pulled the black point slider all the way to the left in ACR, the effect on the image was much more pronounced than the effect in ON1. I also found that the Organiser in PSE is much more powerful, especially in search types, than in Photo RAW. Being able to do Google type searches for images in the PSE catalogue, as demonstrated by michelb, is a huge advantage over ON1 for me. I had a look at the first video link you posted. It's interesting but from what I saw, the new masking tool is very similar to the Refine Selection Brush tool in PSE. In On1, if you have a complex selection like the palm tree leaves in the video example or fine animal hair, the new tool still makes a general selection first after which you still then have to brush over the edges to help the tool select the fine detail in the leaves or hair. This is the same process as the Refine Edge Brush tool in PSE. If ON1 or Adobe can develop a tool (using AI or whatever) to make the find detail selections in one go without having the user brush over the edges than that would be a huge plus. So at the moment I am happy to stick with PSE for my image post processing.

I must say I'm not at all impressed with the supposed "AI" masking. It didn't work well on a test image of mine.

The latest marketing scheme is going "AI" everything with Topaz and now ON1. I watched the AI masking demo at ON1's website and was not impressed either.

I must say I'm not at all impressed with the supposed "AI" masking. It didn't work well on a test image of mine. Had the same reaction. I recall a very similar masking tool, that involved painting with green and red to define the areas, in a much earlier version of ON1 and it worked rather well. AI doesn’t seem to help. Hopefully it will get more intelligent as I recall it being very useful for extracting people from backgrounds. Tony

When I first watched the videos, I was quite impressed. After taking this tool for a test drive, I am having second thoughts. The results I am getting are quite inconsistent. Hopefully users of this program will provide feedback to ON1 and they will make this tool more "intelligent".

Yep.....no-one intentionally puts out marketing videos showing the flaws in a product . Always test drive, if possible, before buying and/or reviewing

Isn't that the truth? Adobe has already jumped on the "AI" bandwagon. The Auto Creations feature introduced in PSE 2019 is powered by their Adobe Sensei AI technology. Last year they introduced a new tool in Photoshop -- the Select Subject tool -- which also uses this technology.

I just did a quick read-up of Adobe Sensei. Looks like Adobe have been and are adopting AI enthusiastically.

Tony, are you thinking of Perfect Mask, one of the modules in the now-discontinued ON1 Perfect Photo suite? I really liked the way it worked. I loved the Pen and the Chisel tools!

Sepiana - The chisel tool is in the newest version of On1 Photo Raw 2019.2. And it works just as well if not better then the previous version.
