Came across this tip for using the auto mask feature in LR. He demonstrates what looks to be a simple method for making a selection. I'd be interested to hear what you think. Just tried it for adjusting the sky in this image:

I can see how handy it can be for LR users.
You can do the same thing in PSE by using a luminosity mask, Magic Wand, Quick Selection Brush individually or in combination and then fine tune the mask as in the video.

Good tip that could work in other programs. kdcintx, excellent point! Yes, it indeed could. Before I got Lightroom, I used a technique written for PSE by David Asch. It more or less follows along the lines of this Lightroom technique.
