Alex, I have always enjoyed reading your thoughtful comments as IOW judge. Thank you for bringing your same commitment and honest observational skills to the Black and White Challenge. Now I better start looking for a photograph to submit.

Fauxtoto, lovely variety of textures and forms, all working well together. I do love how the pitted metal sits against the grained wood, and the variation in light and shadow from the curved surfaces adds another subtlety.
Helen, what a great spot, I'm usually concentrating too hard on my food and drink. Really angular and geometric, almost becomes abstract, but it is the texture that keeps it in reality. I really like how the light glints and keeps the interest all the way to the back.

This is some fruit which I captured in one of the Asian shops in Sydney. I'm not too sure if it came across well in this image, but they sure had a lot texture to them!  |

Thanks for the nudge Sydney. Wood texture, but you'd not want to touch this log. The lighter parts are red hot glowing wood in a fire pit.  |

Sydney, don't worry, it definitely does come across, particularly when you view full image, great detail and lots of quirky interest.
pontiac1940, I'm so glad you explained because that is one intriguing image, it could almost be a city map rather than a log. And the deep blacks really accentuate the texture of the remaining wood.
