I am running PSE15 on windows 10. Recently it has begun to act very strangely. The tools take forever to respond to my action. I typed some text, waited for it to appear (took forever), then I got a rendering text box that layed on screen for (I kid you not) 10 minutes. 
When rendering finally stopped, I selected transform tool to resize text, got bounding box, clicked on a corner, when what should show up but the rendering box again.
I have reset all tools, reset preferences, uninstalled and re-installed program, even restored my computer to before last microsoft update. Nothing has helped.
Desperate for suggestions. Thanks

Wow! It turned out to be the most obvious problem - the font file itself. Every other font worked fine. I deleted that font from my file and all is well. Thanks for listening.

joey, welcome to PSE&M! Kudos to you for solving the problem! Your screen shot shows you are using a third-party font -- Nostar Script Regular. Third-party fonts can cause the Type tool to hang, to behave the way you describe. As you found out, removing the problem font is the way to go.
Thanks for posting back with the solution! It will undoubtedly help PSE users who may encounter this problem.
