I'd be interested in thoughts for those of you who use textures with your images. I find myself using On1 Photo Raw more often as my go-to for photo editing outside Lightroom, but the texture feature seems slow for the number of textures I have. I tried out Topaz Texture Effects (trial only) and the performance seems much faster. I'd be interested in what others have to say about these two programs for applying textures.

This doesn't really answer your question about speed, Andy. On1 is my "go to" program for textured images. I often start with one of the photomorphis presets and have added a folder of my favorite textures to the included textures from On1. I find it more straight forward and easier to navigate than the Topaz program.

Andy,
I have On1 Photo RAW and Topaz Texture Effects installed on two machines (both with specs that are far and beyond the requirements for these two programs). I noticed the same thing --Topaz Texture Effects is much faster. Personally, I prefer using it in my workflow. Compared to the Textures feature in Photo RAW, their interface is more streamlined, easier to use. I have been using Topaz Texture Effects since its first version; this may explain why I feel more "at home" with it.

I often start with one of the photomorphis presets and have added a folder of my favorite textures to the included textures from On1. I've essential done that as well (although I have a few folders of textures. This is what I find to be very slow in On1. Compared to the Textures feature in Photo RAW, their interface is more streamlined, easier to use. My biggest issue with Topaz is the masking feature. I don't find it works as well as On1, and I don't like that they don't support standard Adobe conventions (like [,] to change brush size).
