Went for a nice walk (in snowshoes) in the valley today. The chickadees were out in full force, encouraged by some seeds I had in my pocket. Lethbridge, Alberta. Feb 24, 2019.

My sentiments exactly. I wish I could get shots like that. Each individual feather is so clear.

Thanks all for your kind comments. These little birds are amazing when you consider they do not migrate in winter and like all birds they have high metabolism and have to keep eating. It was -20°C when I took these photos, although the sun was out and the power of the sun is amazing even in winter. But also consider that we set a temperature record last night and it was -34°C (the coldest Feb 25 on record!) ... not including wind chill which was -40°C to -43°C for several hours. (Just crazy for late February!) Yet, these little birds huddle up in the bushes and somehow manage to stay alive. Amazing. They are also cute as buttons and not afraid of people and can be photographed at 2m or so. One time this winter, I was taking photos of chickadees and one flew from the trees behind me and landed on my head for 2 seconds. Great fun. Thanks, Clive
