Hi hmca and Sydney,
The only 2 ways to view the image at "full resolution" is to physically download it and either print it or view it on screen at 100% and pan around the image. Is it against the forum rules in this situation? Your posts suggest to me that it isn't.
If you look at the image info by right clicking it you will see it is about 10,000px wide. Unless your screen is at least 10000px wide then you are looking at a scaled down version of it, and not every pixel in the image file. All browsers scale images to whatever the web page author has set in the CSS for the images HTML element.
In Firefox (and most if not all other browsers) you can actually look at the HTML and CSS for a web page. From the HTML and CSS it is very clear your browser is presenting you with a scaled down image unless your screen is at least the width of the image.
By uploading full sized images (which in most cases will be much larger than visitors' screens) all you are doing is giving away for free full sized images for people to download, print or do whatever they like with notwithstanding any copyright laws.
HTH
btw.....very nice photo Peter but viewing at 100% I see I would need to clean it up a bit if I wanted to make a print, especially the fringe around the moon which I feel would be visible on a 300ppi sized print.

Bailey, I can't help but think that you would find more joy in your life if you saw the cup as half full rather than half empty more often.

Beautiful composition and processing Peter - Thanks for getting up early to capture such things, and sharing your work, so I don't have to ;^)

Hi hmca, Bailey, I can't help but think that you would find more joy in your life if you saw the cup as half full rather than half empty more often. In the past I did some tutoring in web site development and so one of my joys in life is teaching/educating people. I find it very satisfying. When I see people posting much larger images than they need to, I am not sure if they are happy to give away their full sized images for free or not. In my experience copyright laws mean absolutely zero to most people. I see no harm in pointing out the disadvantages of posting full sized images, especially when all browsers downsize them anyway. I have seen elsewhere that some members here have stated here that they are happy when people want to download their photos. In that case that is fine, but many people who are not tech savvy are not aware that their images can easily be downloaded by anyone who wants them.
If Peter is happy for visitors to download his full sized image and do what they like with it, then all well and good. If not, then there are ways to make it much more difficult, but not impossible, to download images.
And when I see comments like "this should be viewed in full resolution", or words to that effect, those comments are at least suggesting to others to download the respective image for the reason I posted earlier. Downloading images on this forum without permission is against the rules so to me, these types of comments are inconsistent with the forum rules. I suspect people making such comments are not aware of the implications so I am just pointing out what those implications are. I hope this clarifies my earlier post.
