A tutorial from Digital Scrapper reminded me how to use the Filter Gallery to create striped background paper. Start with a blank project - fill with color - seems color fill you choose is irrelevant, but it doesn't work if the project is blankSet color chips - these colors will be the colors of your stripesFilter> Filter Gallery> Sketch - Halftone PatternSet the parameters - I've used: Size 5 (this will be the width of your stripes) and Contrast 40 and Pattern Type - Stripe I've fooled with the contrast and I don't see much difference when you choose different numbers - I'm guessing it has to do with the sharpness of the stripes
you'll will see the difference better if you set your project to 100% view size
I prefer subtle colors - with little contrast between colors- but it's up to you. I believer bolder colors need wider stripes - but remember, if the colors are too strong, they will take attention away from your layout. photos: cats4janNote - stripes are hard to discern on a computer screen - the result when printing probably will be much more defined - and, of course, if you view your project at 100%

I am really surprised that nobody has had a try at this, yet. I would never have believed that stripes would make such a good background. The end result is amazing.
Like you, I too, prefer subtle colours.
I am out of action at the moment, so will have to put this on my 'to do' list.

I like to make my own backgrounds because the match is always perfect, so it’s fun when I am reminded of another way to make some “paper”. Don’t forget that you can always add brush strokes to make your paper even more interesting
