I have been trying out different effects, using ON1 Effects, and PSE. Another first for me.
Photograph - my own.

Good for you Margaret for "playing" and experimenting on your own. In the beginning I always relied on some tut but I think your approach is better.

Well done whippet!
Unfortunately art type photography/images is not by strong suit by a long way and so I admire anyone skilled in it.
Fwiw and please do not take this as criticism, the only thing I find a little distracting and messing with my brain/eyes a bit is the light source in the top left corner. The light source appears to be behind the vase and flowers in the image but the rays of light on the petals are infront. The inconsistency is distracting for me.
If you agree and would like to fix it, then I am probably the last person to ask for this type of help. BillieJean, Cats4jan or other skilled scrapbookers are much more likely to be able to help.
From my point of view, the light source somehow needs to be seen to be coming from infront of the flowers if the light rays fall on the petals or else the petals might need to be made to look as though they are being backlit from the light source behind them.
Just my (non scrapbooker) 2c worth and not criticism in any way.
HTH

I really like it - I think the effects you used improved the look of the flowers - gave them a special oomph (is that a word?) - it darkened them - making them appear richer. I didn't look at the rays as a light source, but an addition to the project design - as much as the design across the bottom did. It looks very nice to me - especially the texture you used. Great job.
Only comment I would have - it seemed like you wanted to frame the project - the upper edge looks framed and the bottom edge kinda looked 'out of bounds' I would prefer either a fully framed project or none of it. But, as you well know, so much of this is subjective. The only person you need to please is yourself.

Thank you all for your comments. Janice - For the frame, I did a flood fill with a gradient, hence the different colours. (I think). @ Bailey. As the title says - 'Play time'. My main aim was the flowers. I just stumbled across the lights, and those stripey things, and decided to put them in. And, sorry, but I don't understand shorthand, so ,Fwiw and HTH, are completely double dutch to me.
