Three things happened tonight that I've never seen before in combination! First, the Chinook Arch was special...ground to ground covering about 160° from SSW to N...seen dozens of good ones over the years. Secondly, the peak of the "arch" was WNW vs SSW or WSW that is much more common. And the angle made it possible to photograph from across the road in the park. A more normally angled arch is more difficult to photograph from our house...and the actual sunset was almost in line with the peak of the arch. And thirdly, the sunset was really good. Good Arch with great sunset at an angle that worked well.

Spectacular, Clive. From what you have written it seems a most unique presentation by Nature.....hoping it's destined for display.

Thanks Helen and Lillias. It really was special. Although I've seen a lot of Chinook Arches (they are common here) this one was a near-perfect shape and in a different position in the sky, so it was special. Two walkers were in the park and we all chatted and admired this great event and one said it was too bad more people never saw this. Clive

Spectacular hardly even covers what I thought when I saw your pano. What an amazing event - what a fantastic capture. You are an outstanding photographer.

Thank you all. It was very serendipitous: seen good Chinook Arches before and seen great sunsets before but the setup was close to perfect...perhaps better with no foreground clutter but it is what it is..anyway that is our street in this new sequence. I took several sets of pano photos. This is also a nine-shot pano. The houses to the left are our street and our house is three to the left of the left most house shown here. So the photo has meaning to us. Thanks Clive

I second all of the above, Clive. Both of the pictures are breathtakingly beautiful.
How fortunate it is that you live in that location, and not in the middle of town.

Thanks all. Much appreciate your comments. Will make a large canvas print for our DIL, who likes the photos and has some significant health issues...she is looking for inspiration and says this makes her feel good. Makes me happy. Thank you! Clive
