That is a bee on a cushion spurge. The pink blossoms are a shrub member of the plum family.

Gorgeous Clive. I love the creamy bokeh. Do you happen to recall your camera settings?

Gorgeous Clive. I love the creamy bokeh. Do you happen to recall your camera settings? Hi Sydney, If you click on any image posted by imgbb to see the enlargement, you can see the camera settings and other exif data below the image, assuming the exif data has been saved with the image. In this case it has been.
The amount and type of bokeh is not determined solely by camera settings. For a given aperture and focal length, the further the camera is from the focal plane, the larger the DOF and hence less bokeh (blurred background). The reverse applies as you move the camera closer to the subject. DOF is determined by the aperture, focal length and subject distance from the camera.
1. For a given focal length and subject distance from the camera the smaller the aperture (increasing fstop number) the larger the DOF.
2. For a given aperture and focal length, the greater the subject distance from the camera the larger the DOF.
3. For a given aperture and distance from the camera, the longer the focal length the shorter the DOF.

Beautiful, Clive. I also like the white mat you use when presenting your work.

Sydney and all. Thanks for your kinds words. Yes, just click on the images to see the EXIF info. In addition to Bailey's comments (about distance and focal length), this specific lens has a soft OOF region. I use a 100-mm macro purchased in ca 1993. It is an A Mount Minolta lens and Sony still uses the A mount in some bodies. The new Sony mirrorless bodies (like the A7III) has an E mount and I use an adapter. Focus with this lens is manual.
