Mrs. B. and I were walking through a park in the Shanghai CBD yesterday morning when we came across this group of people dancing.
Sometimes a group of friends will decide to meet at a certain place to dance. They bring along their own music and music playing equipment. Very often members of the public passing by will join in the dancing and the groups can grow to quite large.
The gold coloured building in the background is Jing'An Temple.
I used burst mode with an aperture priority of f6.3 and ISO 100. There was plenty of natural light to allow a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the action.

I noticed the young man sitting on the jetty and wanted to get him in the shot.
I don't know what he was doing there. Was he waiting for someone,,,,,pondering something in deep thought or just admiring the view across Jing'An Park. Perhaps something else, just day dreaming maybe?
In any case, his presence there helps to return viewers' eyes back into the image in the direction he is looking.

Yesterday we were just wondering around having a stroll. One minute you can be walking down a fairly modern looking main road, then turn left or right into a small lane and it feels like you have been transported back in time with a time machine. This small lane is in an area that is ~500 years old and very little seems to have changed.

I took this photo a couple of days ago while walking through Peoples Park in Shanghai.
People gather in the park to play games as well admire the beautiful gardens. I suspect some of the people in the photo are onlookers passing by.
It must have been a critical point in the game since the man in the grey jacket with a cigarette in his left hand seemed very interested in what the next move was going to be. I think they were playing a form of Majong judging by the white tiles they were using in whatever game they were playing.

Shanghai is an unusual city.
One minute you can be walking down the main shopping mall on West Nanjing Road (left image).....and outside of 3 or 4 stops away on the subway you can be walking down a lane which hasn't changed much since the very early days of Shanghai (right image).
These small lanes are not on any tour guide.
Life for these people is not easy. The lane is lined with small businesses whose owners most probably live in the apartments above them. You can see their laundry hanging out to dry.

We were walking through a supermarket in Shanghai a couple of weeks ago when I came across this very unusual sight in the meat/delicatessen section.
I asked the attendant, well actually just pointed to my camera and the pig faces, and he gave me the thumbs up with a grin on his face.
They were selling for 108 Yuan a piece. Needless to say we didn't buy any.
