As previously noted, I went across the road to the ponds yesterday looking for "portrait" opportunities. The ruddy duck is perhaps my favorite waterfowl. They are cute and a riot to watch in breeding season. This handsome dude was flirting with a couple of gals. They "sort of" would have nothing to do with him; but they still hung around and never flew off. Was funny. Ruddy ducks are the same genus (different species) as the blue-bill duck down under. The yellow-headed blackbirds are just goofs. They are supposed to be monogamous, but DNA studies of young show that both males and females are not faithful. (Makes for strong genetics.)
