Hi All, It's time for another chapter of the Creative Effects Challenge. This week I bring you a pretty cool tutorial. I think you will like it. It's brought to you by D&M Imaging Photo Lab It's a blending mode effect that I think has a lot of potential. And it could make some really nice cards, or stationary, or even a nice picture to hang on the wall. Here is the link to the video YouTube Video
This is my first take. And I'm sure I will be using this again.

Interesting tutorial. I found him a bit heavy handed with the eraser tool. Personally I would prefer to use layer masks for some non-destructive erasing!

Mike, thanks for finding this tutorial! It offers lots of possibilities.
- Used an impasto texture from FrenchKiss with the Multiply blending mode. - Used a floral upholstery texture from freeimages with the Multiply blending mode at reduced opacity. - Used layer masks to hide some of the texture effect. - Added a frame by Jerry Jones.
EDIT: The background image is from freeimages.

Thanks, Mike! I remember using that tutorial a few years ago. I think I'll do better this time. I just have to find the right pictures.

Bayla- Yes I suppose a layer mask would probably be a better option. You could definitely be more precise on what you wanted to keep and not. Sepiana- Very nice result. I love the floral texture you used. Reminds me of my grandma & grandpa's place. My grandpa hated it, and my grandma loved it. Marianne- I do hope you get a chance to try it.

I've used this quote before. More or less followed the tutorial apart from using layer masks rather than the eraser tool. I like the way his curly hair blends in with the clouds, but may change the texture to something less spotty! All my own photos. Texture: Old Paper by Shadowhouse Creations. Thanks Mike for finding this tutorial. Bayla

I love the results, everyone! Here's my atempt. The lion is mine, the tree and the sunset are from morguefile.

Here is another one.
The texture is by Joel Olives. The landscape image is mine (taken at Yosemite NP). The background image is from freeimages. Applied noise to the text and added a layer style by Jodi Frye.

Well I see we have some more. Bayla- Very nice creation you have made. That big smile, and the quote you used seem to go hand in hand. I know my wife if she goes more than a week without seeing the grandkids, she is all down in the dumps. Marianne- That is a very true statement. I like the sunrise, (or sunset) you used in your post. Good job! Sepiana- You have done a wonderful job on this tutorial. I love the backgrounds you have used.
I think I might try another one sometime this week. Since we have 2 weeks between new tutorials.

Tammy- Great job on your submission. I love how you combined all of your elements into this wonderful composite. And yes this can become very addicting. I have already done 2, and have 2 more in the works. Good Job!
Tom- Nice job on your rose. The background you used really sets off this rose. It looks like a "Joseph's Coat" rose. Is it?
