If you have a set of adjustments that produce an effect you really like, if you have Elements+ you can record a Macro (similar to Photoshop's Actions) which records the steps you take as you make them and then stores them so that you can run the Macro on another image to produce the same effect on it.
Personally I prefer scripts but Macros are a good Plan B for anyone not familiar with scripting.
Just some food for thought.

Looks like a place to get all you need in one spot. Ice cream and nails! Nice tinkering. I use the tinker method too.
