Hi everyone, Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread. - Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.

Caveat: I despise these machines. Not my idea of summer, but to all their own, eh? Some of you might like these rigs. Summer .. for some.

Early summer is a great time for wildflowers in the foothills and on the grasslands. This is a native wild gaillardia.

Those of us in the Southern Hemisphere are at a slight disadvantage as we are in the middle of Winter here.
So these are 2 photos I took on Australia Day back in January this year which was in the middle of our summer.
If they're not acceptable, please ignore or delete.

This one I took last week but I thought it fitted the theme and I couldn't get a repeat this week! Briefly summer is the time when snapping turtles lay their eggs and last week, while walking in the local park I found 3 of them laying eggs. The locations were pretty vulnerable (turtles aren't good at picking safe spots) so I passed the pics and locations on to the park people and have now heard that they recovered 66 eggs from two of the "nests" and they are being incubated. I hope to be present for the release of the baby turtles at the end of summer in about 90 days. So here's one of the snapping turtles in the middle of laying eggs: Tony

Was hoping for a summer thunderstorm but got a rainbow instead.....well part of one. Surely there are two there, Helen? The other is just over the block of flats on the right. Better seen in enlarged photo.

More early-summer flowers ... Prickly pear cactus ( Opuntia polyacantha) at Pavan Park in Lethbridge ... where I walk in winter. Photographed July 3, 2019. The second photo shows the "lay of the land." Most plants have finished flowering, so I missed the good displays this year. Oh well. The other species of cactus ( Coryphantha vivipara [older name: Mammillaria vivipara]) were totally finished flowering and already had the small "berry" fruit.

We know it's summer when Wimbledon tennis dominates the TV. Dennis, yes, indeed. This is a very clever (and timely) interpretation of "Summer". Perfect for this theme!

Bailey,
There is a plenty of leeway in the "Summer" theme. If one is in the southern hemisphere, summer is a fleeting memory but this memory can be captured to fulfill this theme. What brings back those memories of summer? It could be a shot of an ice-cream cone, of a book (summer-reading), of bare feet, of a beach, etc, etc.
