Just wondering if anyone has had this Update and if so how you got on with it!
I got notification of it about a week ago with a message saying it was ready to download and install when I was ready. In my wisdom I decided to leave it for a while as their last BIG Feature update was a disaster and had to be pulled.
However earlier today I discovered that Microsoft had gone ahead and was already in the process of downloading this update to my Desktop and as I couldn’t stop it I just left it to do its thing. So much for the message that when I was ready I could download and install it myself!
Some hours later I looked again to discover that the Update had failed and an Error number was provided. Googling the problem just adds to the headache. AND it’s loitering on my laptop waiting to be downloaded and installed there too.
All I want to do is use my computer in peace. I don’t want to have to learn how to be a Microsoft technician.

Hi BillieJean, We have an old laptop I-5 first generation, 4 gigs RAM and a more recent desktop I7, sixth generation, 16 gigs RAM. We received the same message than you. In both cases I provoked the update and it went well. For the old laptop it took a few hours and for the desktop about 45 minutes. There might be a few new functionalities, but it seems that most of the changes are hidden under the hood, which I never open. No sudden steep learning curves thrown at us this time. Like you, all I want to do is use my computer in peace. Since this is about as technical as I can be, I will not speculate on causes and solutions. I understand very well it can be frustrating to see all our computer resources taken away for an update that finally fails. To avoid this you could control the time of the update by deferring the upgrades until you start this one yourself when it is more convenient for you and you can have an eye on it. See this post from PeterjGood luck, and peace!

Thank you Fauxtoto for your input and I'm pleased that your update went well unfortunately I can't say the same for mine. I do thank you for your good wishes.
My desktop is around 6 years old Intel Core i7 8GB Dual-Channel RAM and came with Windows 7 originally which was upgraded to Windows 10 when Microsoft seen fit to do that. It meets their requirements for this latest Feature Update and here is where I am so far. Tried running Windows Update again and got the same error as before. Downloaded the latest Windows Troubleshooter and ran that. It found 3 items and supposedly fixed them.
I rebooted and ran Windows Updates again.
Started at 4.15pm and sat and watched the whole flipping process only to see it fail at 7pm, this time with a different error number. The advice I see on the 'net is to download the Media Creation Tool and the ISO file disconnect from the Internet and run the ISO file. You might think I know what I'm talking about but I don't really. So a lot more study has to be done by yours truly before I tackle this again. I might even have to get a little man in OR I suppose I could just take the computer and throw it out the door…LOL
And to think I still have the joy of updating my laptop to look forward to.

My situation Win 10 Pro) might not mimic yours, however I choose to manually upgrade since I couldn't find an easy method using Windows Update.
During the upgrade one problem was found - trouble shooter fixed it and the upgrade finally finished after I restarted it.

Thank you Peter. After a lot of research I've gradually been coming round to approaching upgrading manually myself using the Media Creation Tool. I will need to wait till I have time to oversee the process and hope that it succeeds this time.
I'm pleased it worked for you. I just hope that this doesn't turn into a twice yearly event as I don't think my nerves will take it...

Thought I should provide an update.
Having tried several times to obtain this update through the normal channels and it failing each time, today I finally nerved myself up to running the Windows Update Assistant tool (as in the link provided by PeterJ - thanks Peter) to upgrade my Windows 10 version 1803 to the latest version 1903. After somewhere between 4/5 hours my desktop is now running with said latest Feature Update from Windows…hallelujah…so far everything seems to be working fine.

Wow Lillias well done. You were so brave and patient. I think I would have had to call in the computer tech to do it for me, actually I don’t think I know I would have. Anyway great news that you are back in control and your pc is behaving itself.
