I managed to save several jpegs without seeing the warning again and thought maybe that was the last I would see of it; then, I just did try another and there it popped up again. In this instance, I just tried again and when that silly Elements jpeg saving box appeared, I counted ten alligators before clicking Okay and it went through like it was supposed to.
There is absolutely no sensible reason for this new problem; it just decided to start annoying me for whatever reason.
BuckSkin, thanks for posting back with more information! This will help with our troubleshooting.
What is really bothering me is that the error message stops at "because" and offers no explanation why the "save a copy as" command cannot be completed. This is not the norm (based on my experience). I went to the Adobe forums and got it confirmed. Reports about this problem abound and the error message will give an explanation. Ex.:
Because . . .
- there is not enough memory (RAM).
- of a program error.
- file is locked.
- scratch disk is full.
- invalid file name.
- drive […] does not exist.
- etc., etc., etc.
Here are some troubleshooting recommendations offered on the Adobe forums.
- Log on to your computer as administrator.
- Log on to your computer as a standard user.
- Run PSE as administrator.
- Run PSE as a standard user.
- Try saving the problem file(s) to another drive (internal or external).
- Try saving the problem file(s) to another location (folder).
- Try renaming the problem file(s)
- Delete the Preferences file.
Give them a try and let us know what happens. Keeping my fingers crossed!
