Been quiet ... busy this week...well, if fishing yesterday counts as "busy." Last Monday (Aug 26), we drove from the summer place to Chain Lakes Provincial park to find two moose reportedly there. Did not see the moose, so my wife suggested that we go over "The Hump," a winding road that reaches over 2,000 meters in elevation...a pretty drive. On the way up, we came across four mountain sheep (bighorn sheep, Ovis canadensis) by the road and they were most cooperative. There were two ewes, one 2018 lamb and one spring lamb ... which scores high on the cuteness scale. Was great experience. (I might post a scenery shot from the drive in my gallery.) Just BTW, these are wild, native sheep living in a hilly forested area. They are not in a park or game preserve..they just live here. Clive The first two photos are the ewes.
This is the spring lamb (2 photos)...pretty darn cute.
One of the ewes is at the back, the left sheep is (probably) a 2018 lamb. And the spring lamb is on the right.

These are wonderful Clive. You appear to have a knack of getting all the animals to pose for you. I just need to look in the direction of my little camera and my dog takes off...lol.

Very cute and I think your shots capture their wildness well.

You appear to have a knack of getting all the animals to pose for you. Thanks for your comments. Lillias, I assure you that happens to me as well. These sheep hang out along the road as (I am told) there are natural salt licks in the areas so they are used to seeing vehicles and seem curious. Was much fun. Clive

Don't their coats grow long then, Clive. As they are wild - then obviously not.
Beautiful pictures as always.

Thanks all. Was great fun and the lamb was so cute. whippet, they are in summer coats. I assume (like deer) that sheep grow a winter coat. Clive
