Two features I would like that we had at EV, not sure if they're available here.
1. I wish the posts in a thread were numbered. Sometimes you want to direct someone to a particular post in a thread and it's useful to be able to say 'See post #4 in such and such thread'
2. Connected to this, is there a way of linking to one particular post in a thread like we could do at EV? I see two options in the drop down box on the right that read 'Link to post' & 'Select post' but I'm not sure how these work and if they're what I'm looking to be able to do.

EDIT. I think I've answered my second question. If you click on Link to Post you get two options - the second one is 'Link only to this post' and you have to copy & paste it into the body of the post you're writing.
Haven't worked out yet what 'Select post' does. Nothing seems to be selected when you choose it.

I don't think there is a way to number the posts, but you can do even better with the Link to Post feature that you found; I find that very useful! There isn't much you can do with selected posts; you can mark them as read or as new, and you can use it to quote multiple posts in a single post.

How? I clicked on 'Select post' but nothing seems to be selected. Bayla It is a bit subtle (too subtle if you ask me!), but watch the gear icon when you do it; it changes color just a bit when selected.

Cos that what it seems to have done! Bayla

No, selecting is not the same as clicking Quote. However, if you select one or more posts from within a thread, the only thing I know of that you can do is click Quote and you will see all the selected posts in your quote.
If you back up to the board level, you can select threads using the check box to the left of the thread subject, then mark them as read or not read.

So it's the same as holding down the Alt key & selecting multiple posts? That's how I've been multi-quoting up until now. Bayla
