I recently created a thread asking for member input on the IOW process. The responses have been helpful in trying to decide how to move forward with IOW. However, to be honest, I had hoped for a better response. So in hopes of getting more member input I have created this poll. Please take a minute and choose the options that you would like to see as we decide how to proceed with IOW. If you have already commented, you may still respond to the poll. Please check all that you would like to see in the future. When once you vote your choices will remain visible to you if you check the poll again, but know that they have been registered. Hmmm, firstly, Helen, thanks for trying to resolve the IOW conundrum and well done for going out and consulting the members.
My initial reaction was 'how on earth do we make sense of that?', but on closer inspection perhaps an answer does emerge. Let me be the first to try and pick it out and see if others agree.
So, assuming options 5 and 8 are pretty well mutually exclusive; i.e. you either like IOW or you think people should get individual comments through SYW (and 7 of 18 voting for SYW and 11 for IOW seems to back this up) we find that the majority like the IOW in some form.
I can't quite square 7 votes for option 5 and only 2 for option 9, but I put this down as people not liking to vote negatively in this friendly forum (option 9 is the only one phrased as a negative).
So given the IOW gets the thumbs up we only have to think about how to do it, which comes down to two alternatives: gallery or thread? There is no obvious 'gallery' choice but presumably 6 of the 11 IOW 'supporters' voted for its own submission thread, which is the majority. As for how it is judged there it strikes me people are happy with multiple options (which are not mutually exclusive) such as Poll vote, Members Choice and (implied) judges.
Sorry for shoving my oar in, but it is sometimes easier for others to pull apart my logic rather than all start with a blank sheet.
