I just made the purchase and am ready to download it. What happens to the photos in my PSE 10? Do they automatically transfer over? And once everything is in 2020, can I just remove 10 from my computer?

Hi mwhiteaz, When you first launch the 2020 Organizer, you will be asked to either convert your catalog or create a new one. Each version of PSE is an independent one; this means you can keep or remove PSE 10 from your computer. Just keep in mind that Adobe removed some features back in PSE 12. If you like some of these features -- for example, the Lighting Effects filter, you may want to keep PSE 10 installed. What features from previous versions are not available in Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?

Okay, thanks. Which do I want to do, then--create or convert? I don't keep a real PSE catalog, they're just "there." I always keep photos in folders on my computer (under the Windows Photos thing).

I have to disagree with Sepiana, if I understand the discussion. There is no need to use the Organizer at all. You access the photos on your hard drive the same way in 2020 as you did in PSE 10.

Craig, good thing you disagree with me! Now I realize my earlier post was not clear; it was (narrowly) focused on mwhiteaz's question of creating vs converting a catalog. Thanks!

I did not mean to sow discord among you experts. But MM is correct--I really don't care about the Organizer (and a good thing, too, as it would not open on PSE 10 at all last night). Everything's filed on the computer and external HD.
