As it's my birthday on Sunday and PSE2020 became available a couple of days ago my husband bought me the upgrade. I'm happily using it and trying to remember what I did to PSE15 to get the various options to work the way I want them.
So far the only thing which has flummoxed me is the Crop tool. I've always had it show the rule of 3rds lines but now when I first go to use it the crop shape it thinks appropriate pops up - I like to make my own decision on what shape I want the photo to be not to have to amend one that is already there. If I delete the original shape it then allows me to choose for myself. How can I stop PSE trying to best guess my intentions?
It's only a little niggle but one I'd like to resolve if at all possible.

Hi ChrisAnn, First, Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns! Kudos to your husband for this choice of a birthday gift! Then, go to Edit>Preferences>General and turn off "Enable Crop Pre-Selection".

Thank you so much. Such a simple solution when you know where to look. I thought I'd gone through all those ticks but missed that one. Thanks also for the birthday wishes (which is today) so I am going to have a good day 'playing' with my new toy.
