I found that the lighting on the cactus was hard to match with the rest.

Camera calibration, Profile : Camera Vivid. Made a few adjustments with the graduated filter for the sky and with radial filter, ellipse shape, to highlight the ground beside the cactus on the left. Here are the screen shots of the other adjustments made, in the Basic, Tone Curve and Detail panels.

I understand what you are saying Maurice. I think this is the most challenging RAW image we've had to work on.

I really appreciate the efforts of the members who have given it a try.

Many thanks for these insightful edits and interpretations. It's always a challenge when trying to interpret other's work. I found it very hard to move beyond my own motivation when the image was captured.

To me there's no first, second, or third ... my choices are in the order of submission.

Frank's second submission was unigue in his adding fog and sun rays.

Helen's first submission along with Maurice's were extremely similar to my own.

Lillas' second submission added quite a different feel by adding posetrization.
