I am glad I had a look before at the feedback forum.
The slowness issue appeared today with my Elements ACR 12.0 version in PSE2020. I checked that I had Acronis Active Protection on. I disabled it and that solved the issue. So, that Acronis problem is present both for Photoshop and PSE.
