Thank you to everyone who posted an image in the forum and to everyone who has taken the time to look at shared images, especially during these busy times. Your participation in this humble and friendly image of the week (IOW) feature is much appreciated. As usual, I cruelly stick to my decision to not choose more than three images, two special mentions and one IOW. Birds have a place of honour in this edition.
The special mentions
Black-capped chickadee, by pontiac1940

It is worth clicking on the original image posted in the thread to appreciate the fine details that are emerging from a shallow dept of field. The precision of the focus matches the exact capture of the instant. Not every bird portrait displays a nice catchlight in the eye. The awkward position of the bird on the vertical branch seems to be solid and comfortable at the same time. It reinforces the impression that the bird is staying on its guards. The complementary yellow and blue colours are well used. A unique photograph of a common bird.

The bird occupies a small portion of the whole image. It is also small compared to the space taken by the fence which has an accentuated texture. Yet, we still see a bird on a fence, and not a fence with a bird on it; probably in part because of the distribution of the saturation and luminosity. I suspect that this image is a blown-up part from a larger one. The blurred background and the global harmony of the colours create a pleasant atmosphere. It all works.

Only the raven knows…, by blackmutt

To me, this is a scary image. It holds more than mystery. Rather, it evokes fear and anxiety. From the start, a strange penetrating landscape. No colours. An overall undefined erratic texture going in every directions. It seems to be taking over the place. Birds taking off the trees. In order to flee from danger? What danger? Except for one bird? Why? Only the raven knows… The title may not reassure me. However, I love this highly esthetical and meaningful image.
