Some drone trivia ... I mentioned my drone went astray yesterday here and after an extensive ground search could not be found. WayneS wished me luck! Thanks Wayne. The cell phone app (used to control and drone and view what it sees when flying) records all flights and the log is spot on. It plays back a system record from first being turned on until the flight ends. It showed the end part of yesterday's misadventure in which the interface told me it was out of battery and had to land. (It knows where home is and how much battery range it has and when the battery is low is does a forced, but controlled, landing. But it lands with no knowledge of the terrain...if it was over a lake in summer that is where it would land..sploosh.) Anyway the flight log provides second by second coordinates including the landing spot. My son and grandson went back today and it was exactly where the coords said it would be. Gosh we might have been able to find it even if there was snow on the ground. So I am a happy camper. I had walked within 200 m of the drone and scanned fields with binoculars, but I guess there was enough topo in the seemingly flat fields to hide the drone. The drone is supposed to stay geostationary when the controllers are not deployed. It is possible the wind up high was too strong for it to return home when instructed..it did turn back. I will do some system checks. Happy ending.

Thanks all for your kind words. It is still unclear why it went astray, but I will test it in a more familiar environment. I was prepared to never see it again. My son offered $100 to some local teens if they found it...local ranch kids with ATVs who would enjoy the chase...now there is no need. Yes, WayneS it is quite amazing what technology is in such a low-end device. Imagine what a $50,000 or $2,000,000 drone can do. Scary. Happy new Year. Clive

Well done Clive, in getting your drone back safe and sound.
I knew nothing about those things. Technology certainly is amazing, isn't it.
