It's difficult to get an idea about the proportion of Win or Mac users in our forum even if many are quoted in the profiles. It would be interesting to see if there is something special in our case. The proposed poll is voluntarily very simple. I hope that regular viewers here take the plunge and add their votes so that the result is more representative.

Thanks, Michel. I have still been afraid to upgrade to Catalina so will be interested in seeing the results.

I did the upgrade to Catalina after the released a few versions (10.15.2). I did get ride of all my 32bit programs before I did the upgrade. I have changed out to a Spyder pro X to adjust my screen.
So far I have had no issues.

I knida thought we were past the Us vs Them phase... There are so many more important concerns in life. We are in a forum for a creative community precisely to try to get away from those important concerns in life. I see you are helping people in other forums just like me.
In other forums dealing with Elements and similar, either it's about creativity like in this one, or it's about troubleshooting and basic 'how to' knowledge. I think it's just normal to be curious about what is typical in our community. The information about which platform we are using, which version, if we upgrade regularly OS and hardware is not only interesting, it's necessary to be able to help. That info rarely appears here, which is a proof that we are a happy community. However, there has been more and more concerns about photo editing and OS recently and the poll may help users to share their own experience more easily. It's about sharing, not creating distinctions between people.

whippet, it's not too late. I just voted. And you need to get rid of Win 7 ASAP. Support ended today.

Thanks michelbInteresting results and a bit surprising ... would have thought there would be more Mac users. I've had PC for 36 years...well not the same one. Clive

Clive See: There are probably other statistics showing the situation in North America. I searched for those because I read a number of posts from readers assuming Macs were by far the leaders... which seemed stange to me.

Thanks Michel. Macs are a big deal in publishing, advertising and the graphics world. But apparently, PCs run the business world. I've averaged about ~5 years (3 to 7 years) on my PCs and been using laptops as my main computers for several years. iPhones (Apple/Mac) seem to have become a cult here in North America. Under 20s insist on iPhones because, well ... all their crowd have iPhones. Expensive cult to belong to ... for school kids. Clive

Always was curious about Mac - just to learn something new. Already had an iPhone and iPad and thought having a Mac would simplify life. A nearly new Mac fell into my lap when FIL died.
After over 5 years of use, I prefer the Mac. I’m going to replace it very soon with another Mac, but boy, coming to terms with the price is a problem. The iPhone and iPad were gifts and the Mac was given to me because I was the only person in the family willing to learn a new system - so really, I’ve never “purchased” an Apple product.
In the “old” days, I didn’t hesitate to spend $3500 to update my PC every 3 years, but now that I can get an all-in-one PC for $800, the thought of thousands for a Mac really hurts. But still, I’ll probably go Mac again. Mainly because the OS is good and I’m used to it - and I don’t feel like relearning Windows.
My only complaint is about the “fanboys”. They can be so condescending. (And yes, I realize calling them fanboys is condescending LOL) I often remind them when we have our “discussions” - it’s only a friggin’ computer, it’s not a cure for cancer. Jeez. Plus I find the Mac user forum can be nasty - especially if you say anything negative about the products. And they talk down to you instead just being helpful and answering the question. (These are, of course, generalizations, but my experience has often been just as stated.)
I am truly in awe of Apple. That they can continue charging that much and people continue buying??? What’s in the water. LOL

Interesting results and a bit surprising ... would have thought there would be more Mac users. I was expecting these results. I have been checking around -- members' signatures, content of their posts, etc. My findings are the same as this poll; we have many more Windows users. One possible explanation is that most of our members come from the now-closed EV forum. It was the same thing there; far more Windows users than Mac users.
