I am using Lightroom 6 and Photoshop Elements 2020 on a mac. I cannot find a way to focus stack a number of images to increase the depth of field. In Lightroom - Photo>Edit in> the option "open as layers in photoshop" is greyed out. I assume that this only works if the full photoshop is "seen" by Lightroom. Is there a way around this? I have seen that there is a plugin called Elements+ which adds a lot of the features in Photoshop that are hidden in Elements. However I use a mac and it seems that Elements+ may only be configured for Windows. Is there a mac version of Elements+ for use with Elements 2020? If not, is there another way around the problem?

Hi johnny, welcome to PSE&M! Glad to have you here. Elements+, an add-on created by one of our members -- Andrei Doubrovski -- is also available for Mac. There is a version for PSE 2020. Scroll down to the bottom of the Elements+ Home page and click on "Buy Full Version". Then, click on "for Photoshop Elements, Mac". elementsplus.net/

Elements+ does indeed support focus stacking. Here is a short video using Elements+ to do it: Focus Stacking
I hope you will become a regular member here; it is a great community of PSE users.

Many thanks all. Elememts+ loaded and first focus stack of just 8 images has worked a treat. You really are a great community sharing your wisdom and sorting out individuals' problems!

Hi johnny , Welcome to PSE&M. Please continue to participate. We are always happy to hear from new members. I am sure that you will appreciate Elements+ as a useful, versatile, well maintained and well supported Photoshop Elements plug-in. Just to mention that there seems to be a way around to accomplish focus stacking directly in Elements, by using “Photomerge – Group Shot”. In Elements 14 and up “Photomerge – Group Shot” can be accessed from the Guided Tab and, in some previous versions, from the “Enhance” Menu in the Expert Mode. An article on this topic has been written by Larry Becker in the August 2015 issue of Photoshop Elements Magazine (Volume 12, Number 6, page 16). Photoshop Elements Magazine has ceased its operations. However, we are all grateful to Mr. Rick Lepage, the editor, who was kind enough to make the archives available on the Web. It still remains a valuable source of information. It can be consulted at: Photoshop Elements Techniques Articles Index.

I have used one of Andre's focus stacking scripts in all of my versions of Elements and I love it because you don't have to take all your images on a tripod to make it work (although the tripod is best, but I don't take it on my hikes all the time). When I use Andre's script I go to Windows, Action, and first select Auto Align Layers and then Auto Blend Layers. I like the two scripts being separate. .....so my question is this, if I purchase the Elements+ add on, will these two scripts be separate or will they work as a one-step function (i.e. the two-step script is overwritten by the one-step script)?

2018 version has a focus stacking script ... from my tutorial Elements+ instructions 1. select all files in photo bin 2. go to file menu > automation tools > e+ scripts 3. click on focus stacking 4. click on green arrow on right to execute script 5. be patient this can take a bit – wait until onscreen message informs done 6. composite merged file should be visible 7. layer stack on right should equal number of file started with plus merged composite 8. save merged file for further editing

Andrei Doubrovski , I'm not the OP, but I have to thank you for your great support of your very fine product! The value/cost ratio is unmatched in my experience.
