Just the pictured light source
Thanks.
Is the camera just sitting on shims and levelers; or, do you have a bolt threaded into the tripod hole ?
Seeing as the film negative is a flat surface, which theoretically should have no depth of field, what exposure settings have you found to be a good starting point ?
Do you set focus once and then leave it the same for all the "scans" ?
I really like your set-up; I guess it works for slides as well.
I have this huge big cabinet that came out of a doctor's office and contained within it was a big X-Ray viewer, which I removed so as to have more storage space.
I thought this X-Ray viewer would be a wonderful foundation for a slide and film viewing/digitizing creation; alas, the big circular fluorescent bulb doesn't produce enough light.
Recently, I bought a 30-watt
LED floodlight that I gutted and retrofitted the bulb and it's brain-box to replace the now unobtainable 750-watt incandescent bulb in a slide projector, which turned out very well indeed.
Before I robbed it of it's internals, I wish I had thought to investigate the possibles of using such a light as my back-light; that thing was super-bright.
