I once found a way to select all the small spaces inside branches but naturally I forgot how.
I know I bumped the contrast between the sky and branches, lightened the sky and changed the sky color on another layer.
Then if I remember right, I just turned the layer opacity down and inserted the new sky.
But how did I change the sky color
Thanks

Richard, what you say makes sense. You could make a duplicate layer of your photo. Tweak the levels on just that layer so that the trees look black and the sky looks white (or at least have a high contrast between them). Then use that layer a luminosity mask of your sky replacement. Experimenting with the blend mode (eg Darken) may help with some kinds of Sky replacements.
Here is another tutorial youtube.com/watch?v=tzHrT2BaHF8
Kind regards Chris

Try using a threshold adjustment layer to create a very detailed mask. Once you create, Invert it and use it as a mask on your image. Put your new sky layer underneath and it will show thru. From Threshold Original Final

Try using a threshold adjustment layer to create a very detailed mask. Frank, thanks for bringing this up! It's my go-to technique for sky replacement when tree branches, foliage, etc. are involved. I find it very effective.
