Question:The Type Tool in Photoshop Elements uses the fonts which come installed on the OS as well as third-party fonts. What about if we are working on a given project and we need a very specific font, one which we may use only a couple of times? Do we have to permanently install it? Is there a workaround? Answer:Yes, there is a workaround -- use a third-party utility called Font Viewer. This is how it works. 1. Store the downloaded fonts somewhere on your computer. 2. When you need to use any one of these fonts, launch the Font Viewer. 3. Select the font you want to use and instruct the Font Viewer to do a temporary installation. 4. Open Elements and activate the Type tool. VoilĂ ! The font will be there in the Font Family box in the Options area waiting for you. 5. When you are done using the font, close Elements first and close the Font Viewer next. 6. Once you close Elements and the Font Viewer, the font will no longer be available to the Type tool. If you want to give this temporary installation of fonts a try, I would highly recommend AMP Font Viewer. I have used it for many years. NOTE Their website has not been updated to include Windows 10 and Windows 11 but this Font Viewer works just fine in these two versions.
