I tried to find a place to ask for help with OneDrive and the loss of my photo gallery photos, but it is all so confusing. I was so hopeful someone here could give me some direction if not actual help.

I contacted Microsoft Help, got a chat. The agent was arrogant, ignorant, and did what I'd indicated I did not want - he did a system restore. I don't know what you use for internet, but I had reluctantly switched to Microsoft Edge. My problem was with OneDrive - it was opening all my photos and indicating they were being sent to cloud storage, which I never want. I have Windows Live Photo Gallery, have had for many years. It is no longer available or serviced. But it kept working great until OneDrive started opening my photos. Now all my photos in it are gone. All. I told the agent all I wanted was Photo Gallery back with all my photos. I like photo straighten better than any PSE version, and a lot are crocked. I do love PSE, I use version 10 to download photos, but it syncs with Libraries Pictures, so a download put all the photos accessible to where I could choose them. So, now I am faced with no more Photo Gallery for easy straightening.

Don’t know about how Windows operates anymore - been away for more than 5 yrs - but with my Mac and with my iPhone and with my iPad, I go to settings and shut everything off. I don’t want my devices making decisions and I don’t want things arbitrarily being sent to the cloud. If it’s going to be sent there, I want control and decision making.
Go to the settings and open each item and make choices about what you want on. Turning something off is not permanent- so don’t be afraid to change your settings.
As for getting a bad agent, disconnect and call back. Don’t put up with anyone who isn’t good at what they do - and rudeness? Never put up with that. Each time you contact these places, you get a different person. Call back until you find a good one.

TB, I believe some of our members use OneDrive. Hopefully they will come to the rescue. Hang in there!

TB: OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage solution. It isn't specifically designed for photo usage. It doesn't crop, straighten, rotate, edit, etc. So let's look at what is going on in your specific situation: - What exactly happened to your photos? Were they stored on your computer and now you can't find them? System Restore, as directed by Microsoft, wouldn't fix this.

Okay first of all from your post it is not clear enough that you have uploaded your photos to one drive or not or what happened at all. Did you upload your photos to one drive and found out that they are missing?. You could have used google photos, it is much more simpler and convenient.
