Love lupines....didn't realize there was a desert variety. I've photographed some growing wild in Maine.

Helen I've not seen them on previous trips here. They were not out a few days ago and yesterday there were lots in flower. They are smaller than most lupines ... maybe just 12 to 15 inches tall. Lupines grow at home in the foothills and mountains. They look like the Arizona kind but apparently a different species. Clive

They are almost identical to our lupins (without the e). Ours won't be in flower until summer.

TB .....that looks like a pretty cactus flower. If you wanted it to show in this thread you did it correctly. If you wanted to do something else, please tell us what you wanted to do instead of adding your flower to this thread.

TB Nice cactus flower. As hmca noted, you got the posting figured right and using imgbb, as many here do. I use the Snipping Tool all of the time and wish we could copy and paste here ... but can't. Feel free to post images under Show Your Work or in one of the challenges. Thanks, Clive

Thanks Helen & Pontiac, I did intend to be in this thread. But am curious as to why it looks out of focus. I noticed other photos in other postings that seemed off focus. Is it because it downloads so big. I was pretty sure the one I selected was in focus. I also wanted to say it is a Night Blooming Cactus that only blooms one night. I had to get out there before daylight to get my shot. I went almost every day as I could tell when one would bloom. Sorry to say Irma flooded it and it soon died from salt water. I have a cutting that seems to be doing well, but is not ready to bloom yet. The original one was quite large and would put out many blooms thru the summer, sometimes three at a time. I maybe should have put my comments prior to adding the photo? Thanks, TB

TBYour image looks a bit soft when displayed in this thread. It is reasonably sharp when viewed full size in imgbb. It is 2896 pixels wide. For this site, I size the long side to between about 1200 and 1500 pixels..sometimes more. Select a couple of photos from your collection and post in a new thread and we can look at them. Perhaps take this image and resize to (say) 1500 pixels wide and also post it at 2896 pixels wide. I had a hard time understanding poor image quality in Facebook and now all of my FB images are sized to 2048 (THE magic FB number) before posting. Clive

TB, I am afraid this is the nature of the thumbnails generated by imgbb. However, you don't necessarily need to resize your image. If you prefer to upload larger images, just add a note, something like "Click on image for larger size". That's what many of us do. Also, members who have been with us since the beginning know the drill; they won't need a prompt. If you prefer not to have imgbb generate thumbnails, you will need to upload a small-size image. NOTE: I did some random testing. An image which is 650 px on the longest side will generate a thumbnail and you will have to click on it to see the larger size. On the other hand, an image which is 640 px on the longest side will not.
