Thanks to hmca (Helen) for announcing the IOW and allowing me to judge this go round. Also, thanks to everyone who entered photos/images over the past two weeks. There were quite a few entries and I’ve selected three honorable mentions and one grand winner. Congratulations to Lillias, Judy, Frank and Pat! Honorable mentions, in order of appearance
BillieJean Good Things
The overall composition and layout are pleasing, as are the muted mauve colors. It has a nice dreamy feel. I am not well versed in the techniques used, but Lillias did a great job of putting this together. blackmutt Daisy (coneflower) with textured background.
This is one of those images that I just like. Judy's image is very simple and I like the offset placement of the flower. The “rustic” background is a pleasing. The image has a Van Gogh-like feeling. fotofrank The view from Plymouth and Water Streets
To my eyes, this has an old-school AND futuristic look to it. The small buildings in the far background have a futuristic feel. The older bridge is frame nicely by the darker foreground buildings. The “soft” conversion is perfect. The IOW for 11 Feb to 23 Feb is srmoment’s Full Moon over Fisgard Lighthouse
What’s to say, eh? The moon, the clouds, the lights on the city buildings, the starburst of the shipyard (?) light. This is a “busy” photo but it all fits together. Perfect B&W conversion that ranges from black to white (moon)—a bit unusual, but it is a night scene and works well. Congratulations, Pat!

Tough week to judge, Clive! You did a great job narrowing down the field. Great picks, really nice layout and interesting commentary explaining your choices.
Congratulations to Lillias, Judy and Frank. Special congrats to Pat for capturing the top spot this week. Well done all around!

Well done to all. I really liked your choices, Clive. I am not a 'buildings' person, but Frank's street is amazing.

Thank you so much for the honourable mention this week Clive. Congratulations to Judy and Frank too and special congratulations to srmoment for IOW - wonderful photo. Frank your photo (for me) could be a still taken from one of the old time black and white movies. I can just see King Kong for example emerging from under that bridge having mangled one of its supports and stomping forward clearing everything before him in his path. It's great to have an imagination.

Clive thanks for Judging and the Comments.
Congrats to srmoment - what a great image and congrats to BillieJean and Judy, I am honored to be in your company.
Thank for all of the comments about the Manhattan bridge image. That is the view from Washington and Waters street in Brooklyn. It is a very popular photo spot.

Whoa this is unexpected as I don't attempt this type of photo very often. Love your other selections too Clive. I've noticed over the past few months that the submissions to the IOW are truly excellent and it must be very hard for the judges to choose just a few.
