Happy to get this thread started, I'll go first. In the order that they were presented here are the images that caught my attention. I do not do portraits so always appreciate seeing and studying the work of those that do. The first thing that caught my attention was the beautiful light on the child's face and hair. Often in portraits the focus is on the eyes.....but here the photographer seemed to realize that it was the pensive gaze that would capture our attention. I couldn't help but think of my father who would often say to me "A penny for your thoughts". It looks like the kind of place that I would love to explore. I like to find scenes that are open to more than one edit. I think this might be one of those pictures that could possibly make a good monochrome or textured image. Capturing a bird in flight is pretty impressive to me. Capturing three of them flying in a layered formation isn't something I could ever conceive of doing. All the submissions were so very good, I'm only going to select 2 for comment - In the order they were submitted. Nature's Resurgence by Dean I must admit I'm not sure exactly what this is but the contrast in colors as well as in texture really catches my eye. All the submissions are very good, but "Deep In Thought" is my favorite for the reasons Helen explained. Also, the little girl is resting her head over her dad's (?) shoulder which makes the photo even more precious. I wonder what she's thinking about. Great portrait fotofrank.
