Asking for a friend ... Fortunately Avast was not pre-installed on the new computer I bought last November. I removed the trial version of whatever was on my new machine and using Windows Defender and it seems to work well. (That is likely to solicit comments ... ) Anyway .... Can anyone offer help to uninstall Avast from a new computer? This YouTube video seems helpful. youtu.be/jiZo_iOUURESuggestions and comments welcome. Thank you, Clive

Thanks SepianaThat seems to be the only way. Avast seems to have a death grip on non-technical users. What seems like simple uninstall process is daunting for many users. I'll pass this along. Thanks Clive

Clive, I use Revo Uninstaller, free version. It cleans out all the junk these programs put into the Registry, which most others leave behind.

ritage , great idea! I also use Revo Uninstaller (free). It was highly recommended by Topaz Labs when I had problems removing one of their plug-ins. I've been using it since the EV days.

Thanks to both of you, I'll pass this along. Avast seems to be rather an aggressive piece of software. Clive

Go to uninstall application from windows and turn off avast if it is still installed in your system. Find the avast from the list and uninstall from there, it basically completely remove the application with no data left in your system.
