Reminds me of when we lived in Iowa. These were everyday visitors along with Cardinals, Goldfinches and Bluejays. Birdwatching was such a joy. I don’t have trees in this yard and I so miss my birds.
Keep those wonderful photos coming. They are so beautiful.

If you aren't already - you should be published in a bird/nature magazine Clive. These are fabulous. I always enjoy your bird photography.

Thanks for your kind words. There are two funny parts to Thursday's hike. When I go to Pavan Park, I usually walk for around 90 minutes. Well on Thursday, I was 200 m from the parking lot at the "start" of the path and there are a gang of chickadees milling about ... then a downy woodpecker, then a nuthatch. So my 90 minute tour resulted in me walking about 400 m in all .. took over 500 photos!! Made up for it yesterday by walking up the hill and down and actually walking for 90 minutes. Part the second. A friend who has just returned from Hawaii and taking self isolation very seriously texted me: could I pick up some dog meds from his vet downtown. This is from a Facebook post: A friend, who is in isolation, asked me pick up some meds for his dog and drop at his house. So after being in the valley, I stopped a the vet office in downtown Lethbridge. Camera was in the passenger seat. My instructions were to phone the office and wait outside. This merlin swooshed past and alit on an SUV roof 10 m from me. I grabbed the camera and shot hand held at slow shutter (for 600 m) and over exposed. Good thing I shot anyway because had I changed settings I would have no shots. This is the result. It was horribly overexposed and not sharp. It's okay for web posting.

Me too, j.
I have to agree with all comments, Clive. I have a big month by month calendar of birds. I swear they are not as good captures as yours.
The chickadee and nuthatch, are especially so adorable.

Another fantastic shot. Next to landscapes, birds are my favorite subject. Keep them coming.

You are far too modest Clive, all your bird shots are brilliant, take a bow.
