NOTE: Still waiting to hear back from the computer tech about the external hard drive. Well gosh, starting yesterday I am getting no end of popups in the lower right corner. (Mainly Norton and virus alerts and also other annoying offers.) I recall getting these for a while perhaps one year ago on another computer but not seen for months. Theoretically, they are supposed to be blocked...see top image. Have not done a Windows 10 update for over one week....these things started just yesterday. I use Windows Defender for security and scans are up to date...been using Defender for quite a while...seems to work okay. I also went into Chrome settings and to notifications and these sites do not seem to be listed. These annoying things just started yesterday. Was getting several each hour and they stooped last night and started again this morning. EDIT: I see they are all from lodder6.biz ... will see what I can do about blocking that site.
Suggestions welcome. Thank you. I don't even have Norton loaded. It was never on my new computer, or I uninstalled it months ago.

I just did a search and came up with this: The Lodder6.biz pop-ups are a browser-based scam that tries to trick you into subscribing to push notifications so that it can send unwanted advertisements directly to your computer or phone. Lodder6.biz is a malicious site that displays fake error messages to trick you into subscribing to its browser notifications.

Thanks Tom. I will do that right away and report back. Blocking lodder6.biz did not work. EDIT: I have removed Lodder6 as described. Thank you! Clive Defender should be catching these.

Clive, I run Malwarebytes and Defender, as recommended by the Techie at the Company I retired from. He strongly recommends Malwarbytes for scanning and removing malicious software, including rogue security software, adware, and spyware, and includes protection against malware, ransomware, exploit, and malicious websites. He also recommends Defender as a good all round virus scanner, and they are quite compatible, and effective. There is the odd time, when I get annoyed, as I want to check out a website, and the Malwarebytes will block it, which lets me know there could be a problem. Wayne

Wayne In addition Malwarebytes real time (I have a paid subscription) plays extremely nicely with Windows defender - I've been running them simultaneously for over a year now.
