tonyw and ritage , sorry no. Big (really big) hint. Well, maybe not. Lillias and others in the UK might dispute the common theme here because of word usage differences between England (do we still say England?) and the North American Colonies and this comment is specific to the potato. Clear now? I'll check later today. Clive

Hmmm...how about 'chip or chips'. There is a chip on the bottom of the mug, potatoes can be cut into chips and the spruce cones are lying on a bed of wood chippings???

YAY! Well done Lillias! Yes, "chip" is the common word for the reasons you said. My hint was meant to mean that in the UK you say "potato crisps" and we say "potato chips" Good one. Your turn. Clive EDIT: Ah Tony, you got it as well. Good.

My hint was meant to mean that in the UK you say "potato crisps" and we say "potato chips" That hint is what gave it to me Clive otherwise I don't think I'd ever have got it. Well done too Tony. I will have to put my thinking cap on unless you have something ready to go Tony...

Not speed or lights ladies. Think more in terms of a phrase.

Well, I don't know about Arthur Rank. In Hollywood they would call these 'Still Pictures'.
