Hi everyone, Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread. - Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.

Very clever, Bill. Good idea using a narrow depth of field to emphasize the camera guy.

So it may not be the newest technology but it gets me off to a nice start many a morning. Found this interesting article on the toaster. And this little tidbit on the electric kettle: "Something else that takes place on a regular basis is the advancement of technology. For example, the tea kettle may have started out as being a product that needed to be exposed to some type of heat for the purposes of boiling water. As technology was used to advance the traditional tea kettle the electric tea kettle came out onto the market. It no longer needed a source of heat to boil the water. The first electric tea kettle came out in 1893, The concept of the technology used here was that the electric tea kettle was offered as an alternative to the traditional tea kettle. With respect to the technology for the traditional tea kettle, this revolved around advancements in using better materials for it so it would boil quicker for example. Or technology was used to create a better design that was more convenient." Source: What is Technology? BY GARY · PUBLISHED FEBRUARY 5, 2018 · UPDATED MAY 8, 2018

Two interesting articles, Helen. And to think that today, we take these things for granted.

No substantial modification has been made to the wheel since the beginning of time. What a thoughtful submission, Maurice.

Some more older technology that has had a significant influence - this old printing press once produced a local newspaper. And the type had to be set by hand. Now all you have to do is sit at a keyboard … Tony

So it may not be the newest technology but it gets me off to a nice start many a morning. Helen, an electric kettle and a toaster may not be the newest technology but it is one that still does it job and it is appropriate for this theme. Great finding!

my cracked iPhone 5 my new iPhone 11 arrived today kdcintx, your new iPhone came just in time for this challenge. I like the similarity of composition in both shots; it highlights the "replacement" aspect of this technology. Enjoy it!

What you get when you are helped by short assistants. Frank, your interpretation of technology is so clever! It made me smile. I love the reflections and the DOF.
