Yes, when I click on the desktop shortcut, it opens directly into Editor Elements v12

Julie, I don't really know why this is happening.
I tested this drag-and-drop technique in Elements 7, 10, 11, 12, and 13. It worked all the time without exceptions. The Editor opened and the image was displayed in the workspace.

Thanks very much for trying to suss it out, Sepiana, but don't worry on my account, although it's frustrating not knowing why. I don't know if you would remember but I've had other 'quirks' with PSE and I suspect it's my computer some of the time, to be honest. I've had various issues/conflicts with my PC since I first got it and in spite of reformatting it's continuing with the same issues. Having said that, the PC works and as it's still high spec, I don't feel like replacing it yet One day, I think I might get a techie to give it an MOT and see if they could find the source of various issues. In the meantime, I just 'manage' it and coax it along when it needs!

Well it doesn't work in a Tiny Pic atmosphere, it won't establish the dialog box. That must be a TP thing as I tried a bunch of different stuff this morning and it's pretty stingy with it's images.

Works in Elements 9 as well. Just tried it. What an interesting & useful thread this has been. Thanks Dick for asking the original question and everyone else for their contributions. Bayla
