I go to Image/Resize/Canvas Size I change Inches to Pixels, set the Anchor to add the pixels on the side I want to increase also inputting the number in the "Width" box. Then I click on the image I want to add to the first image, which then my first image disappears when I am looking at the image I want to ADD to the first image. I go to Select "ALL" to get the marching ants around the second image. Now what do I do to actually ADD the image to my first image? The crazy thing is I have done this before, but it has been so long since I have done this I do not remember how this is done. I do hope I have worded this so you understand my question.

So easy to forget things we haven't done in awhile, Charles. It sounds to me like you are almost there. I go to Select "ALL" to get the marching ants around the second image. ....now copy the image Go to the image where you have extended the canvas and paste the image you have just copied. You may need to use the transform tool (Command T) to nudge into place.

Charles, after the "Select>All" step (marching ants around the second image), . . . - Go to Edit>Copy (Ctrl-C). - Click on the first image to activate it. - Go to Edit>Paste (Ctrl-V). To make this process easier, you can have both images displayed side by side on the workspace. Go to the Layout button at the bottom of the screen and select "All Column".

I knew when that did not work it had to be done WITHIN Elements but that is where I was lost. I will make notes on this in a program I have similar to the OLD Microsoft Cardfile system but much better! I have used this program for many many years!

There are many ways to skin that cat.
The way I use is quickest/easiest for me.
With both images open in the Editor, at the top of the window, open the "Window" drop-down menu > Images and ascertain that "Cascade" is NOT checked.
At the top-right corner of the image window, click the little box/icon that is between the _ and X; this will cause all open images to display at once.
Click on the image that you wish to move onto another image.
No special tools needed = in the Layers stack, "grab" the layer (or group of layers) and drag/drop it (them) onto the target image.
If they are the same size and you want them centered, hold the Shift key while dragging/dropping and it will automatically center; otherwise, use the Move tool to position the layer(s) {read the next line first}
When you have got your image on top of your target image, click the little thingie between the _ and X again and the image will fill the window.
Now, if necessary, you can use the Move tool to position the new layer(s)
If you Control/Click the new layer(s) and the Background layer, thus selecting them, you can utilize the Align feature of the Move tool = it is pretty much self-explanatory.
Once you have worked through the steps, it is much quicker and simpler than it sounds. (I guess I should say "reads" ; there is no sound involved with the typed word)

Buckskin, I just went back thru the steps.... Cascade is not checked (it is greyed out not highlighted) But I do not see "At the top-right corner of the image window, click the little box/icon that is between the _ and X; this will cause all open images to display at once." Anywhere in the images drop down window..... You have lost me on this step. Sorry.... I have PSE2020 if that makes any difference using Windows 10 I do not know how to get a screen shot of what I do see using the Snipping Tool, because that window totally goes away so I took a picture of what I see with my camera.... What am I missing here???

Charles,
Adobe made some changes back in PSE 9 -- Tabs (Tabbed Images), Floating Documents. The "Cascade" option is grayed out if you are working with tabs. To make this option available, go to Edit>Preferences>General> . . . turn on "Allow Floating Documents in Expert Mode".

Buckskin, You have lost me on this step. What am I missing here??? You have to overlook me sometimes as I tend to forget that Adobe changes everything with each new model. With more than one image loaded, click "Tile" there in that menu right beside where it says "Images" and that should accomplish the same thing = make all loaded/open images display in a grid. When you can see them all, click/select your source image and drag/drop the layer(s) you want onto the target image. As soon as you release the source layer onto the target image, it automatically becomes the selected image. Go back and un-check "Tile" and it should fill the window once again.

Sepiana,
I was just trying to follow Buckskin's instructions to see how different it would be. Since I have no idea what Cascade is or what it is for I am really not going to worry about not being able to follow that.
Buckskin,
I do thank you for trying to show me another way. It is really OK that it did not work!

I have no idea what Cascade is "Cascade" in Elements means for all of the open images to display in "Cascade" fashion; the best way I can describe it is like a hand of cards = you can see all of the top card and only the edge of all the other cards in the hand. Myself, I have never found any useful reason to cascade the images.

Thank you Buckskin. I would agree with you, I would also not find a reason to use Cascade.
