I have been trying to make my own bokeh images and have had doubtful success  ....so, I thought I would ask in this forum. ...I do have a bokeh brush set, but the bokeh seems flat and I would like it to light up a bit more. ...I have also been running around my backyard with my macro lens trying to get natural bokeh shots - basically pointing at plants, flowers and bushes and taking the shots out-of-focus. |

I will give that a try.
Mainly though, I want to be able to place my bokeh where I want it to show up in my image, and then change the mode to soft light or screen (depending on the background).

Use the bokeh photo as a layer and move it around or use a layer mask. 😀 and of course post your results please

That was a VERY COOL tutorial! There is a lady I follow on Flickr who creates the most amazing images which have inspired me to try and create my own. flic.kr/p/2iZD5Pgflic.kr/p/2iR1z9sI have discovered that the free bokeh brushes I downloaded are working quite well. I'm still not quite sure how this lady got this beautifully transparent and delicate look. |

I'm still not quite sure how this lady got this beautifully transparent and delicate look. Hi Perhaps in post she used Lens Blur with a Diffused Glow. If you have Color Efex, two filters that can be tried (with Lens Blur) are Glamor Glow and/or Soft Focus. Have fun and good luck  |

Pat I've not read at all of the replies and references. One super simply way to create fake bokeh is to duplicate the image, blur the new layer and then selectively erase parts of the blurred layer with a soft eraser brush. This a fast and crude example. Clive  |
