This young bear was about 2 km south of our summer place yesterday. It came within about 150 m and I got a few photos, but they are hard crops. The general consensus is that the scruffiness is because it is still losing its winter hair. Its forelegs and face seem to be nice and shiny.

Putting that zoom to good work, Clive. I especially like the last one where he is in the midst of the flowers. But they are all nice shots.

On his way to the picnic no doubt! Great photos Clive, would seeing bears be a common sight near your summer place?

would seeing bears be a common sight near your summer place? Thanks all! Jacki, the answer is no and yes. One or two are seen in the immediate area every year. Although my wife and I spend between 70 and 80 days here every summer, the is only the second bear I've seen right here. We are about 20 km from the foothills and base of the mountains and so there are not many bears here. You can see here that we are surrounded by grassland and farmland.

. . . and water. I want to get my dog grooming brush out on to his coat. Is that barbed wire I see on the shot where he has a mouthful of grass? Another of my all time favourites. . . Mouthful.of.grass

I bought the record when it first came out. Loved it then, and still do today.
